Ventura County HSA Homeless Services and RAIN have collaborated on a pilot program that is simple; RAIN provides the shelter and services, and once the resident finds work and housing, Homeless Service provides their resources. This program worked very well for one woman who came to RAIN from the streets. She found herself homeless after going through a difficult divorce that left her emotionally drained and financially distressed. Soon after entering RAIN, and with a background in teaching; this battered but recovering woman secured a teaching position with First 5, and a few pay checks later found an apartment. With the help of HSA Homeless Services this lovely lady had a deposit and two months rent. Between RAIN, HSA Homeless Services and a determined woman, her time at RAIN was only 90 days.
